Payment information

Prices will be increased by 10% from 1st April 2022. The increase is in line with inflation since our last price adjustment in 2019.

Subsidized fees

The Vienna Drosophila Resource Center (VDRC) is part of the Vienna Biocenter Core Facilities (VBCF), a non-profit research company, publicly funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, and the City of Vienna via the Vienna Business Agency.

Austria currently represents less than 2% of the total VDRC usage, (with US ~40%, Europe ~40% and Asia ~15%). The VBCF funding covers approximately 25% of our running costs with the remainder coming from user fees.

We would like to emphasize that your costs are subsidized by Austrian grant funding and you are not being asked to cover the full cost.

Payment method

For orders of 300 lines or less, we can currently only accept payment by Visa or Master Card. To place an order, please provide your credit card number and its expiry date. This information is not stored at the VDRC. For these transactions our servers are protected and secured by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
NEW: If you put more than 300 lines in your shopping cart, your order will automatically be blocked until you send us an email (office@vdrc.at) to ask for a quote. Once you tell us how many lines you wish to order, we will send a Purchase Order code and payment will only be possible by wire transfer. Information about payment by PO is here.

Fees per order (as of 1st April, 2022)

We welcome applications for on-site screening using VDRC transgenic fly stocks, either by you, or as a service. Please enquire for pricing.

Explanation of fee structure

RNAi lines, other stocks and DNA constructs each count as "items".

Orders with a total of 300 items or less will qualify for fast shipment and will be dispatched from VDRC within 2 weeks of ordering date (excluding public holidays, unforeseen circumstances such as extreme weather, airline strikes, or as otherwise notified in advance on our website).

Preparation and dispatch of orders above 300 items may take up to 6 weeks.

Examples of how the fee structure will be applied to your order

Example of an order for 75 fly lines and 3 DNA constructs = total 78 items:
