New fee structure (Feb. 24, 2009)
|
Dear VDRC users, As of February 24th (CET), the VDRC will change its fee structure. The new fee structure is designed to make large-scale screens more affordable, while still meeting our need to recover 50% of our costs through user fees. (The remaining 50% is covered by funds from the Austrian Federal Government and the City of Vienna) While the fees for small orders increase, fees for large orders are now significantly reduced. We hope that this fee adjustment will make screening the VDRC RNAi library more attractive for more labs, without significantly impacting those who order VDRC lines more sporadically. Please note that orders which will be placed starting on the 24th February (CET), will be affected by the new fee structure! The new fee structure is as follows:
Example of an order for 136 RNAi lines:
With best regards, Your VDRC Team |

1st VDRC birthday (Apr. 2, 2008)
|
On April 2nd, the VDRC is celebrating its first birthday. In our first year, we have sent almost 50,000 transgenic RNAi lines to researchers in 40 different countries. The demand has at times been overwhelming, and we thank you for your patience and support. In our second year, we hope to further improve our stock keeping and shipping services, and also welcome our first researchers to conduct RNAi screens on site. We hope that you will continue to find our services useful, and look forward to your support in our second year. As always, we welcome suggestions on how to improve our operation. Your VDRC Team |

Mite warning (Jan. 15, 2008)
|
Despite continued efforts to rid our stocks of mites, we have still not completely solved this problem.
From time to time, you may receive mites together with your RNAi lines, and so we strongly recommend you follow normal quarantine procedures
when the stocks arrive. We do apologize for this problem, but due to limited resources and the large number of stocks we need to maintain, we can presently only maintain one vial for each stock and can only flip stocks once every 5 weeks. |

VDRC appoints an independent Scientific Advisory Board (Nov. 19, 2007)
| The VDRC strives to provide maximum support for the Drosophila research community, while maintaining its scientific independence from its host institutions. To help us better respond to community needs, we have appointed an independent Scientific Advisory Board, which consults regularly with the head of the VDRC. We are extremely pleased that Matthew Freeman, Angela Giangrande, and Maria Leptin have agreed to be the founding members of the VDRC SAB. |
New MTA (Nov. 15, 2007)
|
In response to requests from the community, we have renegotiated our Material Transfer Agreement with our sponsors.
Some of the more restrictive items in the original MTA have now been deleted or modified.
We hope that this new MTA will be acceptable to all of your institutions. [Download]
